1. Bright Young Things @ Slim’s, Raleigh NC. Went out to the Bowerbirds/Bright Young Things show last night. Show was great — BYT play a very enjoyable brand of soulful power-pop, and I expect they’ll be very buzzy once their record comes out. Bowerbirds played as a four-piece, with former Ticonderogan Wes adding some killer bass lines and BYT singer Matt adding some lovely drums. They played a bunch of new stuff, which sounded very good, and announced that they’ve got a new record out on July 7. Yay! By the way, this was my first time at Slim’s, and it’s a miserably smoky, cramped place. Bleh.
